Computer use is an Agent's ability to operate an entire desktop — mouse, keyboard, and screen — not just a browser. Anthropic introduced the capability in October 2024 with Claude 3.5 Sonnet in beta; the model analyzes screenshots and plans coordinate-level mouse and keyboard actions. It can be seen as a generalization of Browser Use, reaching into native apps, terminals, and file managers. Failure rates remain high and the surface area for Prompt Injection is significant; serious deployments need strict Guardrail discipline.
